    Founded in 1990 by retired Marine Colonel Gene Nervo. What began as a summer youth program has since expanded to a year-round camp and conference center that features programs ranging from adventure and travel-based experiences for youth to teambuilding corporate retreats. Although the retreat center and the majority of its programs reside on nearly 500 acres in the western Virginia mountains, WAEL’s programs have expanded to West Virginia, Alaska, Puerto Rico, Vietnam, and Panama.
