Directions & Parking for Employers Attending CONNECTION Fair
For our employer guests attending the spring 2018 CONNECTION Fair sponsored by Career and Professional Development
IMPORTANT: These parking instructions are for the CONNECTION fair ONLY. For other fairs sponsored by colleges, departments or student organizations at Virginia Tech, and you must place reliance on the sponsors of those fairs for instructions on parking for those events. Regardless of sponsor, Career and Professional Development is very happy you are visiting campus to recruit students! However, we do not have authority to instruct you on parking for campus events not in our control. Thank you!
CONNECTION fair PARKING.
Guests of The Inn at Virginia Tech:
We encourage you to save time by leaving your vehicle at The Inn, and using The Inn's shuttle transportation to Squires. When you are ready to depart, our CONNECTION shuttles will return you to The Inn.
For all other CONNECTION guests:
CONNECTION PARKING is only permitted in the Chicken Hill parking lot [lower right on VT Parking Services map, highlighted in yellow]. Parking is not permitted anywhere else on campus. Career and Professional Development does not have any authority regarding parking and is not able to void parking tickets.

DIRECTIONS to PARKING at Chicken Hill lot (below).
SHUTTLES run between Chicken Hill lot and Squires Alumni Mall side, and will be available throughout the event, starting 7:30 am. If you need a shuttle ride back to parking mid-day, stop by our employer check-in table in Squires, which will be staffed all day, and we will call a shuttle for you.
PARKING PASSES (vehicle hangtags) are emailed in advance to your colleague who registered your organization to attend the job fair. Passes are also available at the welcome reception, from shuttle drivers at the parking lot, and at employer check-in.
CONNECTION fair optional UNLOADING before PARKING.
If you wish to unload before parking, you will UNLOAD at Squires, Alumni Mall side. After unloading, you will drive to from Squires to PARKING at Chicken Hill lot and take our shuttle back to Squires.

Squires Student Center is 180; unload on the Alumni Mall side.
DIRECTIONS from Route 460 via Prices Fork Road:
This route avoids traffic congestion you may encounter if driving throughcampus.
- From Route 460, use Prices Fork Road/Downtown exit onto Prices Fork Road heading northeast.
- Travel 1.2 miles to the traffic circle connection with Main Street.
- Take first exit off traffic circle onto N. Main Street.
- Travel 0.3 mile on Main, and turn right onto Alumni Mall entrance to campus.
- Proceed along Alumni Mall (Squires visible on your left) for 0.2 mile; just before the Torgersen Bridge over Alumni Mall, use the U-turn and travel 150 feet to arrive at the unloading area at Squires. Pull up forward of the bus stop. Do not block the bus stop.
Event staff and student volunteers will be there to assist you, and student volunteers can help you carry your materials into Squires.
IMPORTANT: Do not travel to Squires via Otey Street or College Avenue. Parking is not authorized there. Drop-off is not authorized there, and no volunteers are assigned there. This location accesses the first floor. Employer check-in is on the second floor.

DIRECTIONS to PARKING at Chicken Hill Lot
Guests of The Inn at Virginia Tech:
You do not need to park at the Chicken Hill lot if you leave your vehicle at The Inn, and use The Inn's shuttle transportation to Squires. At day's end, our CONNECTION shuttles can return you to The Inn.
All other travelers must park at the Chicken Hill lot:
Map to "Intersection of Southgate Drive and Sterrett Street, Blacksburg, VA." Chicken Hill lot is on south side of the intersection, with access from Southgate Drive.
FROM Squires unloading TO parking at Chicken Hill Lot:
Two route options. Both take the same travel time, about 6 minutes, IF there is no traffic congestion.
However, option 2, through campus, is more likely to have traffic congestion and thus take longer.
Option 1: Route avoiding Washington Street | less congested:
After unloading:
From Alumni Mall, travel 0.1 mile and turn right onto N. Main Street.
Travel 0.9 mile on N. Main and turn right onto Airport Road.
Travel 0.4 mile on Airport Road, and turn right onto Southgate Drive.
Travel 0.5 mile on Southgate Drive; at intersection with Sterrett Str., turn left into Upper Chicken Hill parking lot.
Option 2: Route through campus | can be very congested:
After unloading:
From Alumni Mall, travel 0.1 mile and right onto N. Main Street.
Travel 0.3 mile on N. Main and turn right onto Washington Street.
Travel 0.6 mile on Washington Str. (can be very congested) and turn left onto Beamer Way, next to Cassell Coliseum.
Travel 0.4 mile on Beamer Way. and turn left at traffic light onto Southgate Drive.
Travel 0.1 mile and turn right into entrance to Upper Chicken Hill parking lot.
