CONNECTION Fair Weather & Emergency Contingency Schedule
Schedule details if the Virginia Tech Blacksburg campus has unplanned closings, early closings, and/or delayed openings on any of the CONNECTION-related dates.
- Only for CONNECTION job fair in February, sponsored by Career and Professional Development.
- Information here is for both employers and students.
- Monday = pre-fair employer events
Tuesday = job fair day
Wednesday = interview day

Monday | pre-fair day employer events
Spring 2018 pre-fair date is Mon. Feb. 19.
If the university is closed or closes early for any reason on this date, this will cause cancellation of any and all CONNECTION-related events that might have been scheduled for this date, such as employer training.
Tuesday | job fair day
Spring 2018 fair date is Tues. Feb. 20.
In case of university delayed opening:
Employers may arrive at opening time and begin setting up.
Students may arrive 30 minutes after opening and begin checking in.
The fair will begin one hour after the university opens.
If the university is closed Tuesday, but is open Wednesday:
The job fair will be moved to Wednesday, and the interview day will not be held.
Wednesday | interview day
Spring 2018 interview date is Wed. Feb. 21.
If the university is closed on Wednesday:
No CONNECTION-related events will be held.
If the university was closed Tuesday, but is open Wednesday:
The job fair will be moved to Wednesday, and the interview day will not be held.
In case of delayed opening on Wednesday:
Employers may arrive at opening time and begin setting up.
Students may arrive 30 minutes after opening and begin checking in.
The fair will begin one hour after the university opens.
If the job fair occurred on Tuesday, and the university has a delayed opening on Wednesday:
Employers and students may arrive at the time the university opens.
Interviews will begin 30 minutes after the university opens.
Interviews originally scheduled to occur before that time are cancelled.
For example, if the university were to open at 10:00 am, interviews prior to 10:30 am would be cancelled.
