Faculty and staff are an important partner in the student’s experience during their co-op or internship. Here you can find information that may be useful as you are supporting students who are interested or participating in the Cooperative Education and Internship Program (CEIP).
CEIP is considered an academic program at the university. Therefore, students who are working full-time are enrolled in a zero-credit experiential learning course (CEP 4084) through Career and Professional Development to maintain their full-time status and enrollment at the university. Students may also participate in off-campus part-time internship opportunities and be enrolled in a zero-credit experiential learning course (CEP 3084) through Career and Professional Development which does not maintain their full-time student status at the university.
All student experiences must be approved by a representative in the student’s academic department.
Student Learning Outcomes
Through enrollment in the Canvas course that accompanies their experience, students participating in CEIP will have the opportunity to set learning objectives, reflect on learning throughout their experience and connect their experience to academic coursework and future career goals.
CEIP’s student learning outcomes include:
- Connect, integrate, and apply student learning across academic and professional settings.
- Reflect on the development of professional competencies for career readiness.
- Explore career interests.
- Begin to develop professional identity.
