The Vermont Department of Labor is committed to improving the lives of Vermonters by connecting individuals with employment, education, training, and career opportunities. We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and results-oriented professional to join our Burlington team as a Job Center Specialist II (Adult Case Manager). This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping individuals overcome barriers to employment, building strong community relationships, and empowering customers to achieve long-term career success.

Building upon the services provided by our Job Center Specialists, the Job Center Specialist II delivers individualized career and case management services to adults and young adults entering the workforce. Through ongoing one-on-one coaching, you will assess customer needs, develop individualized employment and training plans, establish achievable career goals, coordinate supportive services, monitor progress, and adjust plans as circumstances change. Every customer has a unique story, and success in this role requires building trusted relationships while helping individuals identify their strengths, overcome barriers to employment, and achieve meaningful career outcomes.

This position requires regular collaboration with employers, education and training providers, and community organizations to coordinate services and create employment opportunities. You will advocate for customers during partner meetings, make informed referrals, connect individuals to workforce and community resources, and responsibly administer workforce program funding that supports education, training, and career advancement. You will also represent the Department through workshops, presentations, hiring events, and community outreach activities that promote workforce services and strengthen partnerships throughout Chittenden County. Time will be divided between the American Job Center, partner locations, employer visits, community events, and direct customer engagement.

The ideal candidate is motivated by helping people succeed, enjoys building relationships, and is comfortable working with individuals from all backgrounds and life experiences. You should be equally comfortable facilitating presentations for groups, meeting one-on-one with customers, collaborating with community partners, and engaging employers. Strong communication, organization, and critical thinking skills are essential, along with the ability to manage a diverse caseload, maintain accurate case records, meet program performance expectations, and balance multiple priorities. Experience using technology for case documentation and data management, attention to detail, accountability, and the ability to work independently are critical components of this position.

If you are committed to empowering others, strengthening your community, and making a lasting impact through workforce development, we encourage you to apply.

Occasional travel throughout Chittenden County and surrounding service areas is required. Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to reliable personal transportation.
