Career and Professional Development has new and ongoing opportunities for VT students and recent graduates for summer experience and professional development.

New summer 2020 alternatives

Career and Professional Development is launching 5 FREE virtual Summer Experience programs for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as recent alums. These professional development and guided learning programs will help you build career-ready skills, gain experience, and earn a certificate of completion to list on your resume. Opportunities to network and learn from various industry partners will be provided through the three structured experiences. These experiences are unpaid. Details about each program are below.

Career Ready Advantage

May 26 – August 7 (Self-guided experience) 
Build confidence and competitiveness through learning about your career-ready competencies.
Registration deadline: Sunday, August 2, 2020.

LinkedIn Learning Challenge

May 26 – August 7 (Self-guided experience)
Build career-related skills through completing curated LinkedIn Learning videos and earning certificates.
Registration deadline: Sunday, May 31, 2020.

Elevate Experience

June 8 – July 31 (Structured experience)
Elevate your summer job into an internship-like experience through professional development on career ready skills and your Strengths.
Registration deadline:  Sunday, June 7, 2020.

SCORE: Summer Case Opportunity and Reflection Experience

June 15 – August 7 (Structured experience)
Engage with industry partners and mentors by solving real world business problems and presenting a case study analysis while working on a team with other students.
Registration deadline:  Sunday, June 7, 2020.

Ut Prosim Experience

June 15 – August 14 (Structured experience)
Support local efforts in a service project benefiting your community while working with an alumni mentor to develop career-ready skills that employers value.
Registration deadline:  Sunday, June 7, 2020.

These programs and services are continuously available to Virginia Tech students throughout the academic year.

Cooperative Education and Internship Program [CEIP]

Structured experience for undergraduates who have secured a part-time or full-time career-related position. Appears on the academic transcript, with zero-credit.
Summer enrollment deadlines:
S1 and S3: June 8. S2: July 24.

Hokie Mentorship Connect

Connect with VT alumni in your career field of interest. Options for structured mentorship, informal flash mentorship, and discussion board groups. Participation is continuously open. Both undergraduate students and graduate students (effective June 1) may seek mentoring.
