Career fair day
Wednesday, February 20, 2019
The Inn at Virginia Tech, Latham Ballroom
All Connection-attending employers are welcome to park at The Inn.
Attire: Business casual or professional attire.
Weather / emergency schedule
8:00 am Employer check-in:
8:00 - 9:45 am Employer set-up in booths
8:00 - 9:45 am Breakfast available for employers
All day Refreshments available in employer lounge
10:00 am - evening If you registered for and received next-day interview space (at same time you registered for the career fair day):
During Wednesday, schedule students for your Thursday interviews, using the form provided.
Block your own interview-day lunch break at the time of your choice.
Tell the students to arrive at Smith Career Center, 2nd floor, 15-20 minutes before the interview start time.
10:00 am - 4:00 pm Career fair open to students
Noon - 1:30 pm Lunch available for employers
4:30 pm Employers remove all materials from fair venue
Interview day
Optional, and only for those employers who chose this option in your event registration. [Space limited; first-come, first-served.]

Parking in Coliseum lot; you must display the parking pass provided.

Attire: Business professional attire
You will have created your interview schedule during the fair on Wednesday.
Weather / emergency schedule
8:00 am Employer check-in opens
Arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your first interview
8:30 am - 4:00 pm Start times on the half-hour for 30-minute interviews.
Take your lunch break as you scheduled it.
5:00 pm Smith Career Center closes for the day.
Weather / Emergency contingency schedule
Event / schedule change plan in the event of weather or emergency university closings or delayed openings.

EMPLOYER FEES FOR CONNECTION 2019 CAREER FAIR DAY

SPONSORSHIP career fair day.
Limited number available. 
Fees include:

  • Attendance for up to four representatives.
  • One 6X8-foot booth with table and two chairs, premium booth location in ballroom.
  • Signage at fair, on website, and promotional marketing material.
  • Breakfast, lunch, and refreshments. 

Fee: $1100
Each added rep. (above four): $50

PREMIUM BOOTH career fair day.
Limited number available.
Fees include:

  • Attendance for up to three representatives.
  • One 6X8-foot booth with table and two chairs, premium booth location in ballroom.
  • Breakfast, lunch, and refreshments. 

Fee: $800
Each added rep. (above three): $50 

REGULAR career fair day.
Limited number available.
Fees include:

  • Attendance for up to two representatives.
  • One 6X8-foot booth with table and two chairs.
  • Breakfast, lunch, and refreshments.

Fees:
Government / non-profit orgs:  $400
All other types of employers:  $500
Each added rep. (above two):  $50

OPTIONAL INTERVIEW DAY

  • There are no fees for the OPTIONAL INTERVIEW DAY.
  • However, space is limited: first-requested, first served.
  • To request interview space, you MUST do this when you register online for the fair day. 
  • Do not make a separate phone call or email request for interview space.

REGISTRATION FOR EMPLOYERS

WHEN:
Registration open: November 2018.
Registration closes: When the event is fully booked, OR Feb. 7, 2019, whichever occurs first.

HOW:
Go to www.joinhandshake.com to log in or request an account to register for the Connection career fair.
After you register, you can see and confirm your registration.
Please be accurate! Please make sure all your fair-attending reps know that STUDENTS PLACE RELIANCE ON THE INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE regarding:
— majors.
— types of hires.
— academic levels.
— work authorization.

CANCELLATION and REFUND POLICY

  • Cancellation by you after registering, by email to Ashley Roberts, received (on business days):
    —  Up through Jan. 24, 2019: full refund.
    —  Jan. 25 - Feb. 8, 2019: $250 administrative fee.
    — On or after Feb. 9, 2019: no refunds.
  • Event cancellation by CPD:
    In the unlikely circumstance that this event, or any portion of it, is cancelled or postponed due to insufficient registration or unforeseen circumstances, the university will refund registration fees, but cannot be held responsible for any other expenses, including cancellation or change charges assessed by airlines, hotels, travel agencies, or other organizations.

  • Only for employers who registered for optional interview day when you registered for career fair day.
  • Parking near Smith Career Center.
  • Directions & parking info for Smith Career Center.
  • No cost.
  • You MUST have a parking pass.
  • Parking passes will be provided: 
    • By email, to email address provided by your colleague who registered your org. to attend.
    • At employer check-in at the fair.
  • Career & Professional Development has no authority over campus parking; we cannot void parking tickets.

HOTEL INFORMATION:

Virginia Tech visitor resources: accommodation information.

Because this career fair is held at The Inn at Virginia Tech, we have secured a limited block of hotel rooms at The Inn available to Connection-attending employers at the rate of $145/night. To receive that rate, identify yourself as attending the "Connection career fair" when you request a hotel room reservation at The Inn.
