Weston Truss

Assistant Director

Originally a native of Mississippi, Weston J. Truss joined the Career and Professional Development team on August 20, 2019, to enhance access to underrepresented student populations. Prior to taking on this role, Weston received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Mississippi State University with a strong focus on advancing programs and initiatives for marginalized communities. Through that educational focus, Weston was a Graduate Service Assistant at the Mississippi State University Career Center and developed partnerships and collaborative measures with Student Support Services TRIO Program, the Promise Program, and assisted in a number of professional development workshops to empower minority communities and the general student population. Therefore, within his current role serving each of the diverse and inclusive Community Cultural Centers here at Virginia Tech, Weston is available to assist students in the following areas: resume writing, cover letter writing, interviewing skills, career and major exploration, self-development assessments, navigating the job search process, negotiating job and salary offers, networking skills, and professional communication guidance.
