Katie Baer Beach
Katie began her career at Virginia Tech in 2006 in the Department of Athletics working as an athletic trainer for the women’s soccer, softball, and lacrosse teams. After serving some amazing student athletes and having some wonderful experiences, including a trip to the Women’s College World Series, and the Women’s Soccer NCAA Final Four, Katie decided to make a big move across the parking lot to the Smith Career Center in 2014. She served for two years as an advisor for the Health Professions Advising program, working primarily with undergraduate students preparing to pursue graduate education for a health profession. Working with those students was rewarding and fueled Katie's fire to be able to help more students in all aspects of their career journeys. This led to her current role, starting November 2016, as an assistant director, where she serves as the primary liaison to the College of Science, the Graduate School, and the Global Education Office.
Katie says, "I am a perfect example that your career is truly a journey. What you may envision your career to be, and what your career may become, is not always the same thing. Continuing to follow your passions and your interests, as well as gaining education, will put you in the right place."
